- An OFW was gunned down hours after arriving from Saudi Arabia
- Tagged as masterminds are his own wife and her alleged lover
- Police are still hunting the gunman
MANILA, Philippines – The police have arrested two people in connection with the killing of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was shot dead in Batangas hours after arriving from Saudi Arabia early this week.
According to the Calabarzon police, they now have in custody the two suspects in the murder of Danilo Henson Teruel, 57.
Teruel was shot twice in the head by an unidentified gunman outside his house in Barangay Pinagkawitan in Lipa City, Batangas last Saturday, May 19.
Tagged as mastermind in the crime are Teruel’s own wife, Janet Capalad, and her alleged boyfriend, Ruel Guico.
Teruel and Capalad just came from Saudi Arabia where the latter works as a nurse at a hospital. The couple were allegedly married in Saudi.
Guico, Capalad’s alleged lover, is reportedly her coworker in Saudi and went home to the Philippines before the couple. He was also the one who fetched them at the airport.
The police said witnesses claimed seeing Guico talking to the gunman one day before the couple arrived and minutes before the shooting.
Both Guico and capalad were arrested and are currently being investigated.
“We consider the two of them as the mastermind behind the killing of Danilo Henson Teruel based on the investigation and the account of the witnesses,” said Calabarzon police Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar.
The police refused to divulge more details pending investigation due to the sensitivity of the case.
“Both suspects did not resist arrest during the operation conducted the day after the shooting. They were already charged with a case of murder,” Eleazar added.
The gunman, who remains at large, is now being hunted while charges of murder is being readied against the two suspects.
