Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markel, will not attend the wedding of his daughter Meghan to Prince Harry, Kensington Palace has confirmed.
The American actress has ended the intense speculation and expressed her sadness that Thomas Markle, 73, who is said to have undergone heart surgery on Wednesday, would miss her wedding as per medical advice.
In her statement released by Kensington Palace, the bride-to-be said: “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.
“I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, 61, who is now a favorite, will walk her daughter to the altar at St George’s chapel, and is expected to meet the Queen on Friday. reports say she has had a private meeting with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall on Wednesday after flying in from Los Angeles.
