Campaign materials with cash attached confiscated in Abra

A bundle of small flyers stapled with P50 up to P100 were confiscated by the police from a resident of Barangay Kimmalaba, Dolores, Abra who was campaigning on Saturday.

According to the authorities, the materials being used in vote-buying were seized from a supporter of a kagawad who is a candidate for the elections.

The person who distributed the flyers was not apprehended because he managed to flee the scene immediately.

The total amount of cash stapled to the flyers reached around P12,000.

Dolores town mayor Robert Victor Seares confirmed that vote-buying is rampant in the province during election period.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is currently investigating if the vote-buying campaign materials were indeed from the suspected candidate.
