“Avengers: Infinity War” made history at the Philippine box-office as it became the All-Time Highest-Grossing Movie in the country after only six days of release, Marvel Studios said in a press statement on May 1.

The superhero action-adventure movie achieved a stunning feat with a gross of P730.1 million and outpaced the 2017 live-action movie “Beauty and the Beast” which formerly held the record with an entire run of P677.1 million.

The two films are among the top six films released in the Philippines. The rest are “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3.” All the six are Disney’s.

“Avengers: Infinity War” opened in Philippine cinemas on April 25, 2018 and rolled out in 849 screens across the country, with an estimate of over 2.4 million admissions.

Filipino fans who watched got surprised upon seeing a quick scene in the movie featuring the Banaue Rice Terraces, and while waiting for the after-credits scene as every Marvel fan should do, a Philippine team who worked on the clip was given credit.

If you ever wonder how much Filipino movies like Panday, Enteng Kabisote and ‘Vice Ganda’ films grossed during their run, the highest on record is “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad” with figures close to P600 million, breaking the former record of “Super Parental Guardians.”
