The honesty of a garbage collector who has been struggling with difficulties in life was tested when he found bundles of cash at a garbage disposal site in a subdivision in Baliuag, Bulacan.
In a video shared by GMA News’ Unang Balita on Monday, Emmanuel Romano was doing his job as a garbage collector when he found a plastic bag which contains lots of cash.
“Kinabahan po ako, nakita ko po ‘yung pera, tinabi ko po muna sa isang gilid, ‘di ko po muna pinakita sa mga kasamahan ko,” said Emmanuel. [I got nervous when I saw the money, I set it aside and did not inform my colleagues at first.]
Emmanuel’s newly born child was sick and his family are living in a shanty while he has on ly a small income. But despite the hardships, he surrendered the found money to the Barangay hall after his work.
The owners of the cash met Emmanuel and shook hands with him and were very thankful.
One of the owners said that his wife has thrown the plastic bag with the trash; not knowing about the money inside.
The owners pledged to help with the medical expenses of Emmanuel’s sick child and give him financial support as well.
The Barangay council also promised to help him renovate his house and give him a salary increase or a promotion.
