- Customer stole taxi driver’s cab when latter answered call of nature
- He then drove off to secluded area, took away the vehicle’s parts
- Police on the hunt for thief
MANILA, Philippines – A taxi driver who answered the call of nature became the unwitting victim of his male customer who drove away with his cab which was later on found deprived of several expensive parts.
In a CCTV footage shared by ABS-CBN, the thief can be seen driving the stolen cab to a secluded area somewhere in Scout Chuatoco, Brgy. Paligsahan, Quezon City Monday evening. The next segment shows him approaching a nearby carwash to borrow some tools which he then uses to take some parts from the cab.
Police who later found the cab said the tail light, power window, computer box, and power battery were missing.
Taxi operator Jean Joson said her driver narrated how the thief stole his vehicle while he was answering the call of nature.
“Sabi niya ‘yung sasakyan niya daw, nasalisihian siya. parang carnap ang lumabas, siyempre call of nature [He said his car was stolen, it was carnapped as he was answering the call of nature],” she said; adding that the vehicle was no longer there when he returned from his bathroom break.
Saying she no longer has any use for the vehicle because of the missing parts, Joson is hoping authorities would place more CCTVS especially in dimly-lit areas.
“Sana maglagay pa ng dagdag-CCTV lalo sa madidilim na lugar,” she said.
[I hope they would put more CCTVS especially in dark areas.]
Police are now on the hunt for the suspect. They are also determining whether he has been involved in similar cases in the past.
