Actress Sarah Lahbati, partner of Richard Gutierrez who’s now facing a P38.57 million tax evasion case, said on Friday she is confident her partner “would get through” the case filed against the actor by the Bureau of Internal Revenue before the Department of Justice.
According to BIR’s press statement as disclosed by Philstar, Gutierrez and his company R Gutz who have under-declared his sales in 2012 to only P311,111 were assessed an estimated aggregate deficiency tax liability in the total amount of P38.57 million as a consequence of their acts and omissions.
During the same year, it is reported that the company also did not file for an an annual income tax return and two quarterly value added tax returns.
However, Sarah gives a comforting message to her partner saying: “This is not my issue to talk about, but I will always be here for him. He isn’t doing anything wrong; he pays his taxes, so I don’t know why this is happening.”
She added, “I don’t want to be negative, because I know he will settle this,” as she told reporters during the launch of her new book, “True Beauty.”
“I noticed that this happens to a lot of celebrities; lagi silang tinitira,” she further pointed out.
