North Korea: We are ready to strike US carrier

  • North Korea has threatened to strike the US carrier on its way to the Korean Peninsula
  • It also described the US carrier as a ‘gross animal’
  • The threat was recently published on a state-run publication

North Korea remains defiant despite warnings from the United States and its allies following the recent failed missile test weeks ago that escalated tension in the Korean peninsula in recent days.

In a commentary on state-run newspaper, the North Korea said it is ready to sink the United States aircraft carrier which is on its way to the area and is joined by two more Japanese naval ships for a military exercise in Western Pacific.

“Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a U.S. nuclear powered aircraft carrier with a single strike,” said an editorial from Rodong Sinmun, a publication backed by NoKor’s ruling Workers’ Party.

The USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group has been dispatched by President Donald Trump to the Korean Peninsula after Kim Jong-un threatened to launch a missile strike against the US soil a few weeks ago.

But Rodong Sinmun belittled the US carrier as a “gross animal”, and said attacking it would be “an actual example to show our military’s force”.

North Korea’s continued threat against the US and South Korea has prompted other superpowers in the regions like China and Japan to stand guard to counter whatever imminent dangers the hermit country has posed against its enemies.
