- Presidential Management Staff head Christopher “Bong” Go denied that he requested the reinstatement of relieved CIDG-8 head Supt. Marvin Marcos
- Senator Leila De Lima disclosed that a source told her it was Bong Go who called the PNP chief to reinstate Marcos
- De Lima said her source is from the PNP
Presidential Management Staff head Christopher “Bong” Go vehemently denied asking Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa to reinstate Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 8 (CIDG-8) head Superintendent Marvin Marcos.
Go, a special assistant to President Rodrigo Duterte, made the denial following Senator Leila De Lima’s disclosure that it was him who requested the PNP chief that the relieved Marcos be reinstated.
As per GMA News Online, De Lima on Thursday, December 1, told reporters that it was an “open secret” among PNP officials that Bong Go called De la Rosa to ask him to reinstate the police official. The senator said she got the information from her sources in the PNP.
Go called De Lima’s allegations as pure hearsay and baseless. He said he can’t recall meeting Marcos in person; saying he does not know the CIDG-8 chief official personally. He stresses that he does not meddle in PNP’s affairs and functions.
“The allegations are pure hearsay and unsubstantiated. I cannot recall having met former CIDG Region 8 head Supt. Marcos and I don’t know him personally. I did not ask General Bato to reinstate him. I also do not interfere with the affairs and functions of the PNP,” Go said.
PNP chief De la Rosa had earlier claimed that a “higher up”, whom he did not name, called him to reinstate Marcos.
