HUNAN, China – The crowd was so surprised when a Chinese university teacher proposed to one of her students while she was wearing a white wedding gown.

A video showing the female teacher, identified by her surname Hu, asking for her boyfriend’s hand in marriage outside the boys’ dormitory of the Hunan University of Arts and Science emerged online and is being shared online.

Georgia Diebelius mentioned in her article for Mirror Co UK that the female teacher fell in love with the student, who is 10 years younger than her, and decided to propose to him for marriage.

It seems that some fellow students are dressed in white ‘bridesmaids’ dresses during the proposal, too.

The proposal attracted a large crowd as the student, who is identified by the surname Sun, was asked to become the husband of the university staff member.

Hu is said to have been in a relationship with Sun for a few months now after the two met in a class.

Sun, who is said to be in his fourth year at the university, appears to be overjoyed at the gesture and said “yes” as his peers applaud in happiness.

An article by Sinead Maclaughlin for Mail Online said that Hu, who is previously divorced from her husband, is not a permanent member of staff at the university in Changde but rather works as a guidance counselor who gives regular talks to students.

Meanwhile, Sun said that the 10 years gap between him and Hu is not a problem, and reportedly said that the most important thing right now is to graduate and find a stable job.

Sun also said that he needs to explain his decision to his parents back in his hometown of Shandong Province, in East China.

Students at the university wished the pair well and posted pictures on social media platforms.
