MANILA, Philippines – Gerphil Flores, the second runner-up in last year’s Asia’s Got Talent, graduates Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines – Diliman Campus.

Cherry Sun mentioned in her article for GMA News published on June 24 that after six years in college, Flores had completed two degrees at the College of Music, and above that, finishing with honors.

The singer now holds a diploma in Creative Performing Arts and a bachelor’s degree in Music where she received the distinction of Cum Laude.

“Lord, thank you! I can finally harvest what I’ve planted since 2010. In a span of 6 years, I am overjoyed to announce that I finished two degrees (Diploma in Creative Performing Musical Arts & Bachelor of Music- Cum Laude) at The College of Music, University of the Philippines Diliman,” said Flores on her Instagram account.

“Although it wasn’t always a smooth ride, I am truly blessed with all the experiences I had as an undergraduate student including my Asia’s Got Talent stint as I not only represented my country but also my beloved university,” she added.

An article by ABS-CBN News said that the singer also acknowledged the love and support of her family, mentors, and friends who were part of her latest achievement.

“Thank you for everything. People often say you’re too protective because they always see you with me and sometimes, they see your “mataray” side but what they don’t know is that you are just protecting me,” Flores said for her mother.

For her dad who is in Germany, Flores said: “Selbst wenn du in Hamburg bist, bn ich fur die Inspiration noch dankbar (Even if you are in Hamburg, I am still grateful for the inspiration).”

“Thank you for unselfishly sharing your knowledge on music and honing my craft,” she said to her mentors.

The singer ended her post by saying: “The triumph is not mine but yours!”

Flores, a half-German half-Filipino classical singer, became known to the public after finishing second-runner up in the opening season of Asia’s Got Talent in 2015.

In 2010, going by the name “Fame Flores”, she joined the first season of Pilipinas Got Talent and finished as one of the semi-finalists.

After her stints in Asia’s Got Talent, Flores has been dubbed as “Asia’s Golden Girl”.
