Power Duo wins Pilipinas Got Talent 5

MANILA, Philippines – Power Duo, one of the ‘golden buzzer’ acts in the fifth season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” bested the other grand finalists and took home the title during the grand finals of the competition on Sunday, May 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The pair, composed of real-life couple Anjanette and Gervin from Angono, Rizal, immensely impressed Angel Locsin, Vice Ganda, Robin Padilla and Freddie M. Garcia (FMG) for their emotional and breathtaking performance to the tune of the OPM ballad “Ikaw Lamang”.

Their performance earned them a standing ovation from the four judges and from the live audience as well.

According to an article published by ABS-CBN News Vice Ganda told the pair that they made him believe in love again.

“That was not just dance, that’s love. And tonight, love wins,” he said.

Garcia, the former president of ABS-CBN Corporation, praised the Power Duo for being completely amazing.

For her part, Locsin, who became emotional when she watched the pair’s performance when they auditioned told the pair their performances continue to level up from the auditions, semi-finals until the grand finals.

“That was fantastic,” she added.

As for Padilla, the judge who pressed the ‘golden buzzer’ without hesitation for the pair after he witnessed their heartfelt dance to express their true feelings for each other, said that Power Duo is the Helen of Troy of the competition.

“When love talks, everybody listens. Love conquers all,” he added.

Padilla thanked the pair during the semifinals for proving that he made the right decision to press the ‘golden buzzer’ when they auditioned.

Power Duo got an average of 100% from the combined judges’ score and public votes.

They won  P2 million.

Mariana Paula Madrigal, popularly known as Amazing Pyra got 66.57% and placed second, while magician Ody Sto. Domingo got 50.61% and placed third.
