Over 100 persons were rounded up by Las Piñas police for violating city ordinances on Saturday, May 28.

The local city police said the mass arrest was in line with the Operation Plan (OPLAN) RODY or “Rid the streets of Drinkers and Youth”, a peace and order campaign named after incoming President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte.

As noted in an Inquirer article dated May 29, 2016, 23 persons were arrested after being caught drinking along the streets, 16 for roaming around shirtless and 57 for violating the curfew for minors.

Acting Las Piñas chief of police Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo said the shirtless men and those who were caught drinking along the streets were given 40 push ups as punishment for the first offense. Those who were able to finish the push ups were sent home, while those who did not were briefly detained.

The acting police chief castigated the minors and their parents for violating the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew hours.

Meanwhile, eight others, including two minors, were arrested on Calamansi Street in Barangay CAA for violating Republic Act Number 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. They were caught having a pot session.

Arrested were Michael Ayubo, Mark Anthony Revaya, Jerry Velarco, Romil Clavo, Silverio Talaro and Rose Ann Morante. The two minors were not identified.

The suspects yielded a plastic sachet containing suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), a.32 caliber pistol, an improvised shotgun and live bullets.
