Tornado hits Arkansas county

  • Significant damage reported in Crawford County after a tornado touched down in the Mountainburg area late Friday afternoon
  • The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center issued a “particularly dangerous situation” for Friday for all the people in Arkansas, which said the state was at risk of severe and life-threatening weather

Several reports stated that Crawford County, Mountainburg, Arkansas, was hit by a tornado-warmed thunderstorm Friday afternoon in which an estimated 160 buildings were damaged and numerous trees were uprooted.

Brad Thomas, Crawford County Emergency Management Director, told reporters the emergency crew responded to three residential entrapments where three people were rescued by the team and taken to a hospital in the area, according to a report by IB Times.

One of the rescued was reportedly unresponsive.

Damage to the Mountainburg School District’s bus barn and some of the buses was also reported.

Video from the scene shows downed trees and debris strewn across a highway.

The primary school in Mountainburg was being used as a shelter as per a latest report.
