A police officer died Tuesday night in Taguig City after allegedly being shot by his colleague by accident.

According to the suspect Police Officer 1 (PO1) Pamfilo Arguta Jr., he was just testing the service firearm of his fellow cop PO1 Adrian Bermas when the incident happened outside the latter’s residence at Dial compound.

Arguta said he didn’t notice that the victim had placed the loaded magazine in the gun.

“Hindi ko na alam n’ung pag-dry fire ko ulit, ayun na. Doon na kami nagulat na biglang…may pumutok,” the suspect explained.

[When I attempted another dry-fire, I was shocked upon hearing the bang.]

Based on the report of Southern Police District, the victim suffered a gunshot wound on the chest.

He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The victim’s relatives denied to give any statement.

Arguta admitted his mistake and expressed his sincere apologies.

“Magkakasama kami niyan, sa training school pa lang. Kami-kami na magkakasama. Talagang aksidente lang, ma’am, ‘yung nangyari,” he said.

[We’ve been together since training school. What happened is really just an accident, ma’am.]
