[VIDEO] Muggers including pregnant accomplice caught by “Brgy. Tanods”

As Raffy Tulfo’s intro goes in his tv program Aksyon Sa Tanghali: “desperate times call for desperate measures”, a man and his pregnant live-in partner, together with a tricycle driver, committed a criminal offense by mugging another couple who were walking along Del Fierro Bridge in Tondo, Manila on Monday evening, April 3, 2017.

Based on the CCTV footage, the victims were peacefully strolling along the bridge when a tricycle slowly stopped behind them. The crooks suddenly got off the vehicle, grabbed the victims’ backpack by force and immediately took off.

Luckily, a group of Barangay Tanods were doing routine rounds nearby and heard the victims’ cry for help.

According to Mr. Randy Caneda, a tanod at Brgy. 139 Zone 12, his group split into two. One group of tanods chased the couple crooks and the other group chased the tricycle driver accomplice. The suspects were caught, and brought to the nearest police station.

They were identified as Mark Anthony Dapat (the tricycle driver) and live-in partners Jinel Martinez and Mia Macogue; who happens to be 6 months pregnant. Though they have the right to remain silent, they admitted the act and said they are sorry and they only did it because of poverty, especially for the needs of the mother-to-be.

The victims did not accept the apology and plan to file a case.  “Maghanapbuhay sila nang patas, kasi walang umaasenso pag nang-aano ka ng kapwa,” Eva (not her real name), one of the victims, said.
